A) Reconstructions on the tram track Bělohorská from 28th April to 30th August
The works started on 28th April with the reconstruction of section Vypich. As part of the planned metro A extension there is a new area being built for the bus stand. From 28th June 2014 onwards the tram track reconstruction will continue in the Bělohorská crossing with Ankarská in the direction to Královka turning loop. “We will remove the ageing concrete and exchange it for a new structure with gravel ballast. The surface of the tram track will grow some grass, and a barrier-free access to the stops will be ensured,” described Miroslav Penc, a head of the Tramway Transport Unit.
Repairs to tram lines and surrounding roads and pavements will be part of the overall maintenance.
Related changes to the services: Shorter tramway routes of lines no. 22, 25, and 57 to Královka.
Length of section under reconstruction: 2.654 km
Costs: 163.298 million CZK
B) Reconstruction on tram track Průběžná – Švehlova from 28th June to 13th September – divided into two phases
PTTC approved the reconstruction of this tram track section connecting Prague 15 Municipal District and the city centre because of its poor technical condition. The tram track was last worked on in 1985 and 1987. It has been impossible to reach the maximum speed limit and to operate low-floor trams 15T along the way.
“We aim to improve geometric specification of the track so the passengers get better comfort while travelling. The stops will have barrier-free access and features for the partially sighted and blind. Additionally, there will be a new stop Shopping Centre Hostivař that has been in demand for the last ten years,” commented Jan Šurovský.
Tram line repairs are included in the overall maintenance.
Renovations will be implemented in two main sections:
- V Olšinách – turning loop Radošovická, from 28th June to 30th August 2014
- turning loop Radošovická – Hostivařská from 28th June to 13th September 2014
