Unique Culinary Show in the Czech Republic

Like it or not, Prague is a city of gastronomy nowadays. You can “try over forty types of various exotic cuisines from all over the world here. At this time Prague with its culinary offerings daringly challenges other cities in Western Europe. Also this year the visitors of PRAGUE FOOD FESTIVAL have the possibility to taste the delicacies of 37 best chefs in our country for three whole days. The feast of gastronomy takes place from the 20th to the 22 ^nd June 2008 in Prague in Slovanský ostrov – Žofín (from 12 to 22 o´clock). The second public PRAGUE FOOD FESTIVAL 2008 does not only offer culinary arts but also the best wines, beer, mixed drinks and a rich cultural program. That is all for 350 CZK, basic consummation included.

At this year’s PRAGUE FOOD FESTIVAL the lovers of good food can taste specialties of Czech, Brazilian, Thai, French, Japanese or Mediterranean cuisine. Your taste buds will be taken care of by the restaurants which are placed in the TOP 100 according to an independent survey Maurer´s Choice GRAND RESTAURANT 2008.

You will taste wines from all around the world and the winning eco-products from the competition Česká biopotravina roku 2008 (Czech bio-groceries of the year 2008).

Thirst can be quenched by:Mattoni (a soft drink), Pilsner Urquell Pub, Moravian and world wines presented by Bohemia Sekt, Habánské Sklepy, U Závoje, Monarch, Bacchus, La Fattoria companies. You can taste a unique coffee Nespresso in the festival cafe.

Do you know how ratatouille is made? This year PRAGUE FOOD FESTIVAL is also accompanied by many novelties. Everyday workshops on various gastronomic topics will take place on the historic premises of Žofín. Top masters in their field will be preparing dishes right in front of you and teach you a few cooking tricks. The workshops will take place from 13.00 to 19.30 o’clock. Also a special show with the holder of the prestigious Michelin star Andrea Accordi from the restaurant Allegro and a number of our and foreign chefs are also on the list. Within the cooking show “you can also see the association of wine and food by the BOHEMIA SEKT sommelier Tomáš Brůha. Every day at 19.00 o’clock you can also see a saber show by Stanislav Šumpík, champion of the Czech Republic in sabreing of champagne from the year 2005. Some Czech celebrities will be his guests. We are pleased that Jan Horký, winner of the competition Cook of the year 2008, has accepted our invitation.

We are a beer superpower, but wine appreciation getting more known in our country. It will change at this year’s PRAGUE FOOD FESTIVAL. Be prepared for a unique beer tasting and evaluation of beers professionally led by the elder brewers of Pilsner Urquel Václav Berka and Pavel Průcha.

We have more thought about children this year. Your children can be taught culinary pastry-cooking art in the Children´s gourmet corner and every day at 16.00 o’clock a block of competitions aimed at culinary skills will take place. Children will get a diploma, prizes but mainly they will take home a great experience. Snack and drinks for free.

At this unique gourmet event musical accompaniment will also be ensured with Brazilian rhythms by the group Tam-Tam Batucada, Pragasón performing Cuban music and Botafogo a group of a popular Ypsilonka actor Jan Jiráň. Various influences meet in this musical mix such as Urban Folk, Bigbeat, Ethno but the primary one is Bossa Nova. An original “gastronomic performance will be introduced by Studio LR under the patronage of an important Czech designer Liběna Rochová.

There will be the possibility to rent boats on the island as well. You can take part in a competition in which you can win a dinner for 3000 CZK in the best restaurant of the year 2008 according to the independent Maurer’s Choice GRAND RESTAURANT.
