Prague is safe, according to the overwhelming majority of inhabitants
The inhabitants of Prague greatly appreciate the declining crime rate in the capital every year. This information is based on a survey requested by Prague City Hall, ‘Safety Sensitivity Analysis’ (Analýza pocitu bezpečí). The survey’s results show that 90% inhabitants feel safe in their neighbourhood.

Traffic restrictions due to construction work for the bridge in Bubenská street.
At the beginning of February, construction work will commence on the bridge in Bubenská street, near the Vltavská metro station. The investor, Prague Technical Road Administration (Technická správa komunikací hl. m. Prahy, a.s.), expects the work to take approximately one month. Some traffic restrictions will be in place.

Cross-country skiing is back in Prague - Vypich
Skipark Prague in Vypich, a popular cross-country skiing system with artificial snow, is open to the public from the 25th of January 2019. It is available for free for all cross-country enthusiasts from 8am to 9pm daily, as long as favourable climatic conditions last.

Prague will systematically address the cultivation of nightlife
Prague City Council approved the members of a new Commission for the Night Mayor, the head of which will be Jan Štern. The commission’s main goal will be to systematically work on long-term solutions for Prague’s nightlife, to keep it within reasonable limits and to cultivate it at the same time. Members of this Commission will include representatives of Prague 1 and of the Municipal Police, as well as representatives of night clubs and organizers of cultural events. The aim is, on one hand, to reduce negative impacts of nightlife on the citizens of Prague, and on the other hand, to not damage the prosperity of the city and its inhabitants.

Unique numbering system on Prague’s lampposts assists with rescues
There are more than 130,000 lampposts in Prague and each pole is marked with a unique number code. It accurately identifies a particular pole and provides information about its location. "We have a database of these numbers that is accessible to the Integrated Rescue system. Emergency line operators are able to quickly locate the caller when they give them the number of the nearest public lamppost. In practice, it helps a lot," Jan Chabr says. Chabr is Prague’s City Hall Councillor and is in charge of Prague’s municipal assets.

The exhibition of nativity scenes at the Museum of Charles Bridge accompanies the story of a Christmas tree
Prague's nativity scenes flooded Prague this year. You can admire them, for example, in the Charles Bridge Museum. Not only will you see the Holy Family in a straw-like form and life-size, there is also a unique Czech one - a fish nativity scene written in the Czech Book of Records or an African nativity scene from ebony wood. And this year, the museum also focused on the history of the Christmas tree.
