As part of the open day, visitors could enjoy an eventful programme full of demonstrations and competitions for children. Some three thousand people visited the shelter and had the chance to see places that are normally closed to the public. People could also take animals home.

“For many, Christmas is the time of hustle and bustle and stress. I was therefore pleasantly surprised by the number of people who visited our shelter in Troja on Christmas Eve. Another proof of the interest of people in strayed animals is the fact that they brought an incredible four tons of food, several thousand packets with animal biscuits and treats, animal accessories and toys. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people who found time and came to see the animals in the shelter and wish them all the best for the new year,“ said Eduard Šuster, Chief of the Prague Municipal Police.

On the occasion, ten dogs found new homes.
