Evening organ concerts in St. Francis of Assisi Church near Charles Bridge are an essential part of cultural life in Prague. Baroque and classical music by international composers like Mozart, Bach, Dvořák, Händel, Schubert, Seger, Gounod, Franck and Vivaldi is performed there on a precious organ.

The experience is further enhanced by the restored interior of the magnificent Baroque Church of St. Francis of Assisi.

Festive fanfare

Before the beginning of each concert, the audience is put into the mood with a nice, thirty-minute long welcoming fanfare performed by two trumpeters in stylised costumes playing heraldic trumpets. You can hear them from the entrance staircase in front of church. Then, let the concert begin!

Enriching experience

The concerts are usually performed by three artists - soloists from our leading opera and orchestral stage ensembles, teachers at the Academy of Performing Arts and the Prague Conservatory.

The Baroque organ in the church is from the year 1702. This renowned instrument, the second oldest in Prague, was played on by a number of prominent personalities. W. A. Mozart, A. Dvořák, and J. F. N. Seger were all familiar with the sound of the organ in St Francis of Assisi Church. The organ was recently restored with great care.

The organ is located at the front of the church on the right-hand side, ensuring a great acoustic and visual experience. The duration of the concert is one hour without interval.
