As they cover a large part of the face, the masks are distinctive, and thanks to Czech creativity, they have become fashionable as well as necessary. Of course, they must be functional, but they can also display styles, attitudes, and character.

Symbol of the times

This piece of cloth connected the nation, showing the solidarity and helpfulness in the Czech Republic. The Czech Police Museum calls for people to send them interesting, hand-made facemasks to their collection to be remembered by future generations.

“As a symbol of the time, they deserve attention today, but also to be preserved for the future, which is why we wanted to create a unique exhibition in the Czech Police Museum,” Zuzana Pidrmanová, a spokeswoman for the Police Headquarters, said.

Open to all

Anyone can take a part in the project. All you need to do is send in an interesting handmade facemask, and you can even add a message to the police or to a specific police officer.

“Write your name in the history of the coronavirus crisis with a handmade facemask for the heroes,” the museum calls to the public.

Open in June

The Czech Police Museum plans to reopen on the 2nd of June. Health and safety measures will be followed according to the regulations.
