One World is one of the cornerstones of the non-profit humanitarian organisation People in Need (‘Člověk v tísni’). Since its inception in 1999, it has become the most important festival of its kind in the world. The common theme of this year’s festival programme is the climate crisis and its impact, both globally and locally.

Festival venues

The heart of the festival will be the Karlín Barracks complex. 16 documentaries will be screened there from the 11th to the 13th of September, 14 of which will be accompanied with discussions with directors and experts.

The festival will also have films in the Aero, Atlas, Bio Oko, Evald and Světozor cinemas in Prague from the 11th to the 22nd of September.

Discussions and debates

As usual, interesting debates with filmmakers and actors will be part of the festival. “Discussions with directors, actors, human rights activists and experts from the Czech Republic are as important for One World as film screenings. We discuss after most screenings, the Talking Cinema programme consists of a series of exclusive discussions with international experts and other individuals connected with selected topics,” Ondřej Kamenický says about the festival programme.
