The programme of seven concerts will consist of both baroque and classical music. The Harmonia Praga String Orchestra is comprised of leading members of Prague symphonic orchestras and performs in the Czech Republic and abroad. The Orchestra began the Style Evenings concert series in 2013 and they have performed them annually in the Grand Hall of the New Town Hall since then, listing both their standard repertoire, as well as a number of new innovations.

Music and word

Music evenings are hosted by the ensemble’s artistic director - a leading Czech violinist and a long-established concert master of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra - Miroslav Vilímec. He always informs the audience about the chosen theme of the evening and adds interesting information about the composers’ lives. Each stylish evening has a different theme. This time the concerts are dedicated, for example, to the excellent music of sunny Italy, and to the music of Mozart. The orchestra will welcome the summer with songs inspired by this period.

Sunny Italy

The upcoming concert, which will take place on the 18th of April, will celebrate Italian music. The name of the concert is ‘Music of Sunny Italy’, and it has a very inviting subtitle - "When the musical language is sweet, ‘dolce’ and energetic, ‘vivace’”. Italian music has a unique character which is maintained across various styles. You will enjoy the baroque music of Geminiani, Vitali and other composers. Eduard Šístek, a young cellist in the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, will play Luigi Boccherini’s classic cello concerto. You will also hear solo of Miroslav Vilímec. The orchestra will be led by the conductor Štefan Britvík.

Each concert has an interval, which will provide you with an opportunity to refresh yourself with excellent Moravian wine in the foyer.
