The complex of historical terrace gardens is captivating in all seasons, and the romantic atmosphere is even intensified by one of the most beautiful views of the Czech capital.

Five gardens

The total of five interconnected gardens form the link between the majestic Prague Castle and the picturesque Lesser Town (‘Malá Strana’): Ledeburg, Small Palffy, Great Palffy, Kolowrat, and Small Fürstenberg Gardens.

With many terraces, pavilions, orangeries and gloriettes, they resemble Italian Renaissance gardens. They were created in the 18th century and important architects and artists took part in their formation.

Restorations

Currently, Ledeburg Garden and Small Palffy Garden are closed to the public due to ongoing restorations.

Access to the gardens

The gardens are accessible from Valdštejnská Street near the Senate of the Czech Republic, approximately 300 metres from the Malostranská metro station. The upper entrance from Prague Castle was closed due to security measures.

Visitors to the gardens are asked to comply with all valid restrictions and health and safety instructions related to the COVID-19 protection, and to stay only in parts of the gardens accessibe to the public.
