The sixth annual ‘Bardzo fajný’ festival will feature four feature-length Polish films. The first film to be screened is ‘Playing Hard’ (‘Zabawa, zabawa’) by Kinga Debska. The film narrates the story of three women of various ages who are at different stages of alcohol dependence.

‘All for my Mother’ (‘Wszystko dla mojej matki’) is the title of second feature film, the documentary maker Małgorzata Imielska’s debut. It tells the story of Ola, a 17-year-old girl living in a children’s home. Even the walls of the institution cannot stop her from searching for her mother. Will she succeed?

 

Controversial drama about problems in the Polish Catholic Church

‘Clergy’ (‘Kler’), the latest film by the renowned director Wojciech Smarzowski, depicts problems in the Polish Catholic Church. This controversial film premiered last year and despite causing a lot of upheaval in its country of origin, it became the third most watched Polish film since 1989.

 

Director's story

‘A Cat with a Dog’ (‘Jak pies s kotem’), the last feature film of the festival, is an autobiographical story by the director Janusz Kondratiuka. The film will show cinema goers the ups and downs of family life, and particularly the relationship between the director and his older brother, Andrzej.

 

Accompanying programme with treats

The festival will also feature animated films with a workshop for children and a screening of Polish-Czech short films.

Tasting Polish delicacies is also part of the event. This year, the festival will host two Polish culinary teams operating in the Czech Republic: ‘Polský stůl’ (Polish table) and ‘Polskiejadlo.cz’. Food lovers can look forward to typical spreads with pork lard and red beets, sweet cakes with coffee, and delicacies that go well with beer and vodka.
