Finished by the beginning of October

The space between the pilots will be completely renovated, with the installation of drainage, studded insulation membrane and polystyrene, which will prevent water from freezing and potentially damaging the walls. It is planned to create a new concrete construction in the space between the pilots and the connection between the new drainage and the existing road inlet. The renovation is to be completed by 7th October 2014. The work is part of regular maintenance.

Only partly restricted

“Traffic in the tunnel will only be partly restricted. The main impact will be a speed restriction in both directions and the partial closure of the carriageway on the entrance and exit ramps, otherwise the traffic will be directed along the remainder of the road. Two traffic lanes will be maintained at the entrance to the tunnel and one lane will be maintained at the tunnel exit towards the city centre,” said Ladislav Pivec, boss of TSK.

Strahov tunnel is an important part of Prague’s city ring-road, it is 2004 m long, of which 1544 m is excavated. The tunnel leads from Smichov, beneath Břevnov (under Strahov stadium), and comes out at the border of the Břevnov and Střešovice quarters. The interior of the tunnel is in the form of two tubes, each with two 3.5m wide traffic lanes.
